Exploring the Stunning Entrance Lobby of 91 William Street Melbourne CBD

A doorway should do more than provide access—it should set the tone.

At 91 William Street, the entrance lobby delivers a statement of strength, elegance, and timeless design. At the heart of this transformation stands a bold, curved custom steel door by All Steel Designs.

Where Power Meets Polish

Smooth, polished steel reflects ambient light with quiet confidence, its curved form adding softness to an otherwise commanding structure. This striking piece doesn’t stand alone—it’s paired with a raw stone wall sculpture by @limestoneartisan, carved with precision and weight, telling a story of endurance and craftsmanship.

This architectural pairing of refined steel and primal stone sets the foundation for a balanced space—powerful yet welcoming.

Design with Intent

Surrounding these centrepieces, the lobby softens into warm luxury. A velvet sofa in earthy tones, thick carpet underfoot, and ambient golden lighting work together to bring a grounded, comfortable energy. Hues of deep terracotta, warm taupe, and aubergine add a sophisticated warmth that complements the cool, clean steel and raw texture of stone.

This contrast—of resilience and softness, past and present—defines the identity of this small yet impactful commercial foyer.

“My design philosophy was driven by materials and elements which would represent core strengths—offering visual validation aligned with strength, longevity, history, beauty, and victory,”Penny Del Castillo, Founder & Head Designer, @studiodelcastillo

Steel That Speaks

The steelwork wasn’t just a feature—it was fundamental to both the functionality and the aesthetic vision. In a space with limited footprint but high visual stakes, it was essential to create an entrance that resonated with the gravitas of the professional firms above.

Working with Studio Del Castillo, All Steel Designs helped realise this bold vision—bringing materials of meaning into harmony with masterful design.
